The 20th Annual Media Classic Tees It Up In Scottsdale This Year – December 11-14, 2022

Media Classic and GWAA Holiday Classic Tournament

Now in its 20th year, the Media Classic was created by Bill Huffman to showcase golf destinations in the Southwestern United States. Since its inception, golf writers from across the globe have enjoyed the opportunity to experience the world-class hospitality offered in Scottsdale, Tucson, Mesquite and Palm Springs. The GWAA Holiday Classic was incorporated into the event as a “tournament within a tournament” in 2017, with the GWAA members competing simultaneously in the GWAA Holiday Classic during the final round of the Media Classic.

The Monument Course

Round 1 – Troon North Golf Club
Monday – December 12 – 10:00 Shotgun Start

The Monument Course at Troon North Golf Club hosts Round 1 of the competition. The manicured fairways and bentgrass greens laid upon the rugged natural terrain always provide the stern shot-shaping challenge first envisioned by Tom Weiskopf. Thank you, Tom; Godspeed, sir.

The Cholla Course

Round 2 – We-Ko-Pa Golf Club
Tuesday – December 13 – 10:00 Shotgun Start

Round 2 is moving day, and at We-Ko-Pa Cholla you’ll be moving it through the air, not along the ground. Scott Miller’s design features dramatic golf spread across the spectacular elevation changes of the natural topography that is equal parts tactical challenge and sweet eye candy.

The Raptor Course

Round 3 – Grayhawk Golf Club
Wednesday – December 14 – 10:00 Shotgun

Grayhawk Raptor hosts Round 3, the final test of your game. Tom Fazio’s design offers plenty of room off the tee and some enormous greens to attack. But be advised, the green complexes are often elevated, well-bunkered targets with undulating putting surfaces that reward accuracy with your short-iron approach shots.
